I have watched MANY, MANY movies in my life.
Some of those movies were really touching and heart-warming.
These are some of the movies that touched my heart greatly!
After watching this movie, I became a huge fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt. This movie was not long, but left a deep impression by showing how a man learned to “love” someone from his girlfriend and sacrificed himself after realizing how much he loved her.
P.S. I Love You was a great movie that showed one man’s truthful love towards his wife, and how his wife let go of all the memories she had with him after his death due to an illness.
I am Sam was such an impressing movie that showed love between a mentally retarded father and his young daughter who had to live by themselves after they were abandoned by the daughter’s mom.
Il-mare.
Il-mare (์์์ ) is a movie directed by Hyunseung Lee, released in 2000. Though 9 years have passed since this movie was created, I watched it for the first time last week.
As I was watching Il-mare, I was surprised how this movie did not seem like a 9-year-old movie that I wouldn’t find interesting at all. This movie shows Eunjoo and Sunghyun’s true love that exceeds time.
Everything starts off as Eunjoo moves out of her house, Il-mare, leaving a letter behind for the next person that will move into her house.
Surprisingly, Sunghyun, a man who was the first to live at Il-mare, receives the letter inย 1998. He notices that the letter is written 2 years away from the time period in which he was living in, but takes it as a stupid joke at first. However, as Eunjoo informs him about all the events that occured at that time period through more letters, he finds that all her predictions are accurate. By sending each other letters and gifts from differnt time periods through the time-exceeding postbox, they start to find similarities between each other, and they start to feel heartbroken that they do not exist in the same time period.
Through the letter, Eunjoo asks Sunghyun to find her voice recorder which she lost 2years ago. As Sunghyun picks the voice recorder up from the subway station, he sees Eunjoo, however, she cannot recognize him because she was the Eunjoo that existed 2 years ago. Sunghyun feels tragic that he is the only one that can recognize her, and finds out how much he loves her. Later on, Sunghyun and Eunjoo promise each other to meet; two years away from Sunghyun’s time period, and a week away from Eunjoo’s. With an excitement about seeing each other for the first time, Eunjoo and Sanghyun wait for that day to come quickly. One day, Eunjoo writes a letter asking Sunghyun to go to a cafe and stop her ex-boyfriend from going abroad to study, because she thoght she still loved him. After she sends the letter, she goes to meet Sunghyun, however, he does not appear. Eunjoo is greatly disappointed, however, right before Sunghyun leaves his house to go to the cafe as she asked him to do so, she finds out that he was the man that was hit by a car 2 years ago, infront of a cafe. After finding out that Sunghyun could not come see her because he was dead on the way to the cafe, she finally realizes how much she loves Sunghyun, and quickly writes a letter to stop him from going to the cafe.
Luckily, Sunghyun receives the letter before he heads off to the cafe. He realizes that Eunjoo and him are not meant to meet each other. Instead of waiting for 2 years until he sees Eunjoo, he decides to go find her before that. However, Eunjoo does not recognize Sunghyun, because he found her before her letter was even sent to the past. The movie ends with Sunghyun’s long explation of what has happened to Eunjoo, who does not know anything yet.
Though Eunjoo could not remember Sunghyun, they were able to meet together in the end. This movie touched my heart greatly, with a unique love story that exceeded the time period. This movie was also remade into “Lakehouse” in America, however, it did not seem to be as good as the original one. This movie, Il-mare, was one of the best movies I have watched without any exaggeration.
